PHOTOHUNT: Tied

October 23, 2009

Tie a yellow ribbon ’round the old oak tree
It’s been three long years
Do you still want me?
If I don’t see a ribbon round the old oak tree
I’ll stay on the bus
Forget about us
Put the blame on me
If I don’t see a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree

Yellow ribbons were seen tied in every corners of the street during the time the late President Corazon C. Aquino got hospitalized up until her funeral.

Photo Hunt: Rock(s)

July 18, 2009

On our last day to Batanes, we visited the eastern part of Basco.  There are many beautiful places and sceneries that can be visited on the other side and we saw these:

This is a church made of stones located at the top of the hill.  It’s just sad that the church is not open and we were not able to see the interior of it.

The picture below is what they call as the Valugan Beach.  The whole beach are covered with boulders of rocks.  According to the locals there:

Valugan Beach manifests the volcanic effusions from Mt. Arayat that is an important geologic formation in the archipelago.  The geomorphic resource provided by the valugan beach provides rich information in the land formation of Batanes.

The beach consists of smooth boulders of different sizes.  Found along the beach at the eastern foot of Mt. Iraya.  They are andesites stones and cover the shoreline.  These stones are hosts to several shellfish and mollusks that provide food and nutrition to the Ivatans specially those from Basco.  The stones provide a natural shore protection for the eastern side of Basco and they contribute substantially to the enhancement of the aesthetic value to the seascape and landscape of Batan Island.

When Simple Things Means a Lot

July 17, 2009

Last July 8 is Matthew’s 5th birthday and his only wish was a cookies and cream cake from Red Ribbon.  On the day of his birthday he was so happy and hurriedly looked for his gift.  When I came home from the office, I surprised him with his wish. He was so happy to have the cake he wished for.  He is not allowed to eat chocolates due to asthma but, since it’s his birthday, I allowed him to indulge on to this one. So when he saw the cake he immediately opened it and I saw in his eyes how happy he was even for the cake. He keeps on talking of his present even as he went to school.

******

When my friend and I went to Boracay last March, we met some aetas on the beach.  We talked to them and had their picture.  I some small talk, my friend and I decided to buy them some food for their dinner.  We left them for a while to have also our dinner.  We went back to the place where we saw our new friends.  When they saw us, they immediately ran and we know already what they are expecting.  We gave them their dinner and each of them went to the side of the beach to eat their food.  In that instance, I was so happy.  Seeing how happy they are is really something.  At that moment, I felt something I can’t explain.

It’s true that simple things really means a lot to people - a simple present or a simple act of kindness.  Sometimes, we think that what we did was just nothing to them.  However, to them, these simple acts of kindness mean a lot to them.  This is the time that you’ll receive the sincere appreciation from a person.

To See Is To Believe

I was planning to post my Pampanga food trip but planned to post this one instead.  We had a Pampanga Food Trip a day after my birthday.  After having our breakfast at Bale Capampangan, we went to San Guillermo Parish Church.  This is the church where they shoot the teleserye “May Bukas Pa” of ABS-CBN.  We toured around the church and had our picture taken at this dining table.

using my SLR camera

Yesterday, my friend gave me the pictures taken by his friend and he showed me this picture which i took.

using a digital camera

can you still see more?

Can you see the difference between the 2 pictures above?  Both of these pictures were taken by me using different cameras and no post processing have been made.

Is it real or not.  My friend told me it’s an Orb and lot of those circles that you can see from the pictures forms a face.  According to wikipedia:

The term orb describes unexpected, typically circular artifacts in photographs. Sometimes the artifact leaves a trail, indicating motion.

The technical photographic term for the occurrence of orbs, especially pronounced in modern ultra-compact cameras, is backscatter, orb backscatter or near-camera reflection.

Paranormal Interpretation:

Orb backscatter has been broadly interpreted as a highly variable range of paranormal phenomenon without verifiable causation — including invisible spirits, auras, angels, ghosts, energy fields, psychoenergetic artifacts, energy balls, etc.

What ever they are, it’s really strange that something appeared on the picture.  Let me know if you really see something.
