and the book turned to life

November 26, 2008, the Philippine release of the phenomenal bestseller novel of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga, “Twilight” was shown.  The movie was released to other countries last November 21.  From the start the billboards, movie teasers  was out, I’ve already kept on calling my fave movie house, Glorietta and Greenbelt if they are selling advance tickets .  To my dismay, they always tell me that they have not yet received any advice.

 

When both these theaters started selling out tickets, I immediately reserved for the November 26, first day showing.  The time sched of Twilight at Greenbelt 3 is 6:30pm.  I arrived there at 6:33 since there so much traffic from office to Greenbelt. (I’m already fuming up because of this).  As the FX reached Mc Donalds Greenbelt, I decided to walk.  It’s much faster than waiting for the FX to move.  So it’s 6:33pm and gladly it’s not yet starting.  As soon as the screen showed “Summit Entertainment”, everybody from the crowd started screaming, giggling.  Everyone knows that its Twilight time.  From the scream of the crowd, it occurred to me that about 90% of the people watching are all women (and why not)

 

Everybody was waiting and during the cafeteria scene when they saw the Cullen enters, wow, you can feel their “kilig” most especially when Edward arrived.  Syempre, I’m not letting my emotions out. Hehehe.  There were funny scenes like when Charlie was cleaning his gun and how he reacted when Bella told him that Edward will take her out.  Another one, was when Jacob and his father arrived at Bellas’ place and when he smiled, well his teeth are sooo white.(as compared to his skin tone). The kilig part is just tamed as compared to the book itself where you really could feel Edward’s love for Bella.  Edward’s words to Bella like “be safe”,  “see you tomorrow” and others were missing.  The most  kilig moment was when Edward kisses Bella inside her room.  The crowd went wild at that scene.

Over-all , I like the movie and would want to watch it again.  I just don’t like Bella’s acting. Her expressions are all the same throughout the movie.  Well except of course during the time she was bitten by James. (hahaha).  Also, the movie was not able to truly capture the whole essence of the book, although they were able to bring the book to life.
