SBARRO
January 22, 2009
Sbarro is back. And it’s much bigger and brighter now. After being closed for more than a year, it’s finally open again in its new location at the new Glorietta 5.
Sbarro’s roots go back to Naples, Italy where for Gennaro and Carmela Sbarro the art of crafting Italian cuisine was a way of life. In 1956, the Sbarro family opened their first Salumeria (Italian Grocery Store) in Brooklyn, which was soon a neighborhood favorite for its exceptionally fresh food and authentic Italian fare, including homemade mozzarella, imported cheese, and delicious sausage and salami - (www.sbarro.com).
I had the chance to dine here last night with my friend. Good thing, she was able to accompany me despite her busy schedule. We met inside Mercury and went immediately to G5. G5 is still not totally finished though majority of the store from Glorietta 2 have already transferred there like Bench, Janilyn, Via Veneto, Maldita, Fabricware House, and Camerahaus to name a few. You can still the smell the paint, so just bear it if you want to check out G5. Restaurants like Mangan, Gilligans and Chef de Angelo will open there too. Just wondering if Gilligans located at Park Square will close or it will be their annex store in order to decongest their customers. Gilligans have many customers so if you want to eat there, better be there early or have a reservation. Unless you are willing to wait (lol)
Sbarro is located at the 3rd level of Glorietta 5. Their place now is more spacious as compared to their previous location so many customers can be accommodated. If you like the view of Glorietta 4, SM Makati and Intercon Hotel, seats are available outside. Lightning is good also unlike before, which seems so dim.

My friend and I both ordered a slice of White Cheese pizza and half an order of Spaghetti in red sauce. Cheese flavored pizza is my favorite when ordering in any pizza store though I can eat their other toppings it’s just that I get easily full when there are so many stuff on my pizza. For pasta, I prefer tomato or oil base. Although, Sbarro don’t have oil-base pasta unlike other Italian restaurants. Aside from pizza and pasta, their homemade garlic bread, which is included in their pasta dishes, is soooo delicious. Before, I used to buy extra garlic bread, but since I’m having pizza already, I spared it. Good thing, my friend, who has a small stomach, did not eat her bread and gave it to me instead.(hehehe)

Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce: Half Order: Php 64.00 / Whole Order: Php 106.00
New York Style White Pizza - Slice: Php 85.00 / Whole: Php 510.00
So, for those pasta and pizza lover out there and who have missed Sbarro like me :) check out and visit their new home at Glorietta 5.
