Oishi’s Marty’s Cracklin’ salt & vinegar - Vegetarian Chicharon

Ever tasted a vegetarian chicharon???  Well, there is one already in the market.  It’s from Oishi (just don’t know if it’s their latest product).  My officemate introduced this vegetarian chicharon while we were scouting for some junk food at Mini Stop.  The label caught my attention and I decided to buy it at once.  According to her, there is an original flavor but the one being sold at Mini Stop is only Salt and Vinegar flavor.

 

I immediately open it and to my surprise, the contents are only ¼ of its size.  The rest is air :(   And guess how much is this bag?  It’s P21.00 for a 70g bag.  The taste is similar to the usual salt and vinegar flavor that other products have.  It’s very salty and It doesn’t even taste like chicharon.  I looked at the ingredients to check what made it vegetarian but all I see are preservatives and flavorings.  The label also say that it’s 0% cholesterol but it’s 100% sodium (or the bag contains 220 mg of sodium) What do you expect, its junk food.  So much for being healthy hehehe.

i like the plain salted marty’s than the salt & vinegar marty’s cos it tastes better

sarap pala talaga ng marty’s, dati parang bali wala lang kasi sakin yan pero nung na tikman ko grabe di ko mapigilan makakain ng marami..

kaya nila sinabing vegetarian dahil yung chicharon nila ay hindi yari sa pork or any other meat. Dehydrated green peas siya yari. :-) but yeah still junky dahil sa ibang ingredients.
