Banana Leaf
February 16, 2009 Had the chance to eat at Banana Leaf twice in a week. The first one was when a client treated us for a lunch at Banana Leaf, Podium Branch. I’ve tried Banana Leaf at their Rockwell branch but somehow, I didn’t enjoy the food there. Maybe it’s the choice of food that we ordered that made me dislike it L. Well, that was how many years ago
Banana Leaf is the multi-awarded international restaurant that introduced Filipino diners to the delights of modern Malaysian, Singaporean, Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, and Indonesian cuisine. (www.bananaleaf.com.ph)
Podium Branch:
Banana Leaf’s branch at Podium is big compared to their branch in Rockwell and Greenbelt . The ambiance is cozy where the lightning is not bright. One thing I noticed was that they don’t use plate but instead a banana leaf. (that is why their name is banana leaf)
Roti Canai with Curry Sauce (Php 78.00 +30.00)
Chicken Satay (Php 128.00)
Deep Fried Chicken Strips Malayan Style (Php 168.00)
Prawn Toast Thai Style (Php 128.00)
Greenbelt Branch:
Banana Leaf’s branch at Greenbelt is a bit small compared to Podium. Although similar in style, there is not much design in this branch unlike in Podium.
Roti Canai with Curry Sauce. Despite its greasiness, I still love this Roti.
Deep Fried Squid Flavoured in Homemade Spicy Garlic (Php 228.00)
Tilapia Fillet With Malayan Cream Sauce (Php 238.00)
Penang Char Kway Teow (Php 188.00)
Stir Fried Malay Noble Leaves with Garlic (188)
I should say that after eating twice at Banana Leaf, I’ve kind of love their food especially their Roti with curry sauce. I just hope they can lessen the oil in it since you really can feel the greasiness in your hands while you’re eating Roti.

The roti looks good. I’m beginning to appreciate different curries now. It didn’t taste good at first.
