2009 Aliwan Festival / WW April 19-25
April 26, 2009 I was fortunate to be able to watch the 2009 Aliwan Festival last April 25, 2009. Thanks to Litratong Pinoy (separate post on this one) for using this event as the venue for the EB. The Aliwan Festival is an annual event which show cases the artistic forms (dancers, musicians, and artisans) of the Filipino. This event starts at the stretch of CCP Complex and this year, the awarding ceremony took place at the Quirino Grandstand. Massive contingents of streetdancers are accompanied by gigantic floats along with their respective muses. The parade depicts the most popular festivals that are celebrated within the Philippines.
Here are some pictures during their rehearsals.

Live in This Land Called Paraiso
April 22, 2009
Wow it’s supposed to be summer and yet it’s raining hard right now. last week, it only rains at night. Now, it’s been raining every afteroon. According to PAGASA, there is a shallow low pressure area (SLPA) West NorthWest of Puerto Princesa City. This is really odd. Our climate is changing and we need to act fast in order for us to save our Earth.

Paraiso
Return to a land called Paraiso,
a place where a dying river ends.
No birds there fly over Paraiso,
no space allows them to endure.
The smoke that screens the air,
the grass that’s never there.
And if I could see a single bird, what a joy.
I try to write some words and create
a simple song to be heard
by the rest of the world.
I live in this land called Paraiso,
in a house made of cardboard floors and walls.
I learned to be free in Paraiso,
free to claim anything I see.
Matching rags for my clothes,
plastic bags for the cold.
And if empty cans were all I have, what a joy.
I never fight to take someone
else’s coins and live with fear
like the rest of the boys.
Paraiso, help me make a stand.
Paraiso, take me by the hand
Paraiso, make the world understand
that if I could see a single bird, what a joy.
This tired and hungry land could expect
some truth and hope and respect
from the rest of the world.
Let’s do our share now for a better world…
HAPPY EARTH DAY

Sabtang Island is undisturbed and unspoiled island with lots of natural attractions guaranteed to satify even most sophisticated nature lovers. It is located South-West of Batan Island and is accessible by a 30 minute boat ride from Port Ivana.

Palm sunday at Batanes
Our boat ride to the island was a little bit rough that i felt bad during the trip. We arrived there at around 9am. We registered first to their Municipal Tourism Information Center.

LP: Hardin
